Welcome to BCCPA's fresh look on fraud prevention - Crime Shield!

As Executive Director Valerie MacLean explained when this program was officially launched in May 2006 (BCCPA News Release) "this Crime Shield exemplifies just one of the many great initiatives that the BC Crime Prevention Association does - provides information and training so that through education and awareness consumers and businesses can shield themselves from becoming victims of fraud. We are the one-stop shopping place to help you protect yourself."

Although some scams and frauds are common to both groups, in general terms frauds affect two distinct groups: (1) Consumers and (2) Businesses and the Crime Shield program is designed to focus on the issues of concern to both groups. Here you will find in-house tools to help you or a list of resources to point you to other websites where you will find comprehensive information on the topic that interests you.
