BCCPA Awards

Brian G. Jones Business of the Year Award

The Brian G. Jones Business of the Year Award was established in September 2000 in memory of Brian G. Jones who passed away suddenly in May 1999. Brian joined the BCCPA Board of Directors in September 1995, was elected to the position of Vice-President in September 1996 and elected President in September 1998. As manager of Auto Crime Strategies at the Insurance Corporation of BC, Brian's dedication and vision regarding the auto crime challenges in this province were respected and admired throughout the industry and crime prevention community.
The award is presented by the BC Crime Prevention Association to recognize those businesses operating in BC that have made a significant contribution, which may or may not be financial, to crime prevention in the province. The business must also demonstrate an on-going crime prevention philosophy. Nominations for the award are accepted annually before August 10th.

2006 Austin Blue Mountain Service

Lee Eden, owner and operator of Austin Blue Mountain Service in Coquitlam received a Certificate of Merit in 2005 for being nominated for the Brian G. Jones Award and the following year he received the Business of the Year Award.  Mr Eden is the epitome of a very caring and concerned member of his community. One of his many significant contributions was to provide at no cost  all the maintenance and repairs to a donated Community Policing Volunteer van used on weekends by the Citizens Crime Watch program. He is not an individual who waits to be asked what is needed: on the contrary he is constantly asking how and where he can be of service and he lives with the philosophy that life is about doing all that you can to make the world a better place. It is his sense of involvement and commitment to help keep his community a safer place that singles him out as an outstanding individual operating a small business with a big impact on those around him.
