General Information

Background

Operation Red Nose is a unique program dedicated to providing impaired drivers with a safe ride home. Essentially, it is a volunteer driving service provided during the Holiday Season to all drivers who do not feel fit to drive their own vehicle home. It is an original and free way of getting a safe ride in your own vehicle without driving it.  During the 2007 Campaign in BC, over 4760 rides were provided to impaired drivers who wanted to arrive home safely!

In BC, there are nine host organizations which operate in 12 cities throughout the Province. In BC, those cities are:

  • Abbotsford
  • Chilliwack
  • Coquitlam
  • Delta
  • Kamloops
  • Langley
  • Mission
  • Nanaimo
  • North Shore
  • Port Moody
  • Prince George
  • Richmond
  • Surrey

Although Operation Red Nose is a free service, we welcome client donations! 100% of the donations received remain with the local host organization to be used in support of youth programs.

BC Host Organizations:

Volunteering

If you are interested in volunteering for Operation Red Nose BC in 2008, please contact your local host organization or Kirsten Janz, Provincial Administrator, at 604-291-9959 ext. 223 and we can provide you with the appropriate application form and instructions on how to obtain the necessary criminal record check.
We look forward to welcoming you aboard!

Becoming a Host Organization

A host organization is normally a non-profit, youth focused group that hosts the Operation Red Nose program in their community.  The host organization is responsible for the administration of the program and its volunteer component with assistance from both the Provincial and National Operation Red Nose offices.
There are many benefits to becoming an Operation Red Nose host organization such as recognition from your community for reducing the number of impaired drivers on the roads, and receiving 100% of all client donations which are to be used in support of youth programs.
For more information please contact Kirsten Janz, Provincial Administrator for the Operation Red Nose Program. (604) 291-9959 ext. 223 k.janz@bccpa.org
